They helped form our atmosphere, but now can they save the planet?

Microalgae are a diverse range of single celled photosynthetic plants. They are among the oldest living organisms on earth and played a crucial role in shaping the atmosphere we live in today through their production of oxygen.

With increasing pressure to find a renewable and sustainable fuel alternative much research has focused on microalgae. Technological advancements and scientific research in this area show great promise that Algal Biofuels could be a future solution to independence from fossil fuels.

This emerging biofuel industry, still in its infancy, is gaining widespread interest and investment. This website provides an informative overview of what microalgal biofuels are, how they are made and how advancements in technology can overcome some of the limitations they currently face in becoming a widely used and affordable biofuel.
